Do you want the good news or the bad news first?
Well, I usually go for the bad news first, and, to be frank, I am the one writing this post…
“The rise in carbon emissions reached record highs last year at 36.8bn tonnes.”
This rise is yet ANOTHER alarm bell for the world and our efforts to limit global temperature rises.
And the good news? Well, ‘good’ is a relative term in this instance, but the growth rate slowed dramatically to 1%, due to the rapid adoption of renewables in Europe resulting from the energy crisis of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
As IEA chief Fatih Birol said, “Without clean energy, the growth in [carbon] emissions would have been nearly three times as high.”
As we continue to invest in solar technology, we can create a cleaner, more sustainable future for ourselves and future generations.
